Drop In Supporter (Role Description)

Role Title:

Drop In Supporter

Where: 25 – 27 Old Park Lane

SK11 6TJ

01625 424717

Weekly –  Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

Your role:

Friendly   and patient volunteers are invited to give support to adults with learning   disabilities who attend our Drop In.    You will be helping them participate fully in a whole range of group   activities such as photography, arts, computers, relaxation, skills training,   discussions and encouraging them to be as independent as possible.

The   project encourages those who take part to participate in planning and   decision-making, and your support will enable people to develop confidence   and life skills.  You will really make a   difference to the lives of people who are often overlooked in society.

What can we offer you?

The project will   provide a supportive and friendly environment in which to volunteer.   You will be contributing your time and   skills to an exciting, new and important   community project, which could have a real impact on the lives of people   with learning disabilities in the Macclesfield area.

We offer   flexible hours and the reimbursement of expenses. Training and on-going   support will be given along with the opportunity for further future training.

As well as   offering the opportunities to make a difference and add real value to a new   and developing community service.  We   welcome those who would like to share their interests and ideas with others   and participate in new activities.    This role will also enable you to meet a wide range of new people and   make new friends, developing your confidence and abilities whilst learning   new skills.

What commitment would we like from you?

We anticipate   that this role will require around 4 hours per week at our premises in   Macclesfield, and while we would hope volunteers could commit to the role for   12 months, 6 months would be acceptable.

All roles are   subject to a DBS check.
